I went to my local Bestbuy today after getting so frustrated with reading books on my iPad. I find my iPad to be very heavy when I am reading books. The longer you hold it, the heavier it gets. The Kindle I bought today is the version that was released in 2013 and it has 16GB (it is also available with 8GB worth of storage and cheaper). I saved a cool $40, so I'm not complaining.
The current Kindle Fire HD does not have a camera, so you do not have the capability to take pictures and even Skype, which was not a concern for me because I already have an iPad and MacBook. ...I am typing this post on my iPhone 5, so I have more than enough devices to video chat and surf the web! I wanted something that I feel comfortable with reading ebooks on and I think I found it! I'm not an Android girl, most of my electronics are Apple. I did have a 7" Galaxy Tab, but I sold it because I was not using it. My primary use for my Kindle Fire is to read books. That's it. I won't be surfing the internet, playing games or anything of that nature. If it doesn't work out for me, I have 15 days to return it to my local Bestbuy to get a refund. I am pretty excited and I am in love with the resolution of the screen. In. Love.
